Obedience is love. According to Paul, and according to Jesus, to obey the whole Law is to obey two simple commandments, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength," and "love your neighbor as yourself."
Too often, I think, Christians pray for God to rescue us from our storms and trials. We fail to see that it is the trials that will bring us closest to God by strengthening our faith and showing us the extent of our need for Him.
How often am I specific about my requests before God? How often am I specific about anything with God, for that matter?
Keeping Jesus in my daily conversation reminds me of who He is. And Jesus is amazing. His love is overwhelming and His sacrifice is something I will never feel worthy of.
Given this overwhelmingly gracious promise from God, to be with us always and to go before us, how could we possibly seek anything other than the pillars of God's presence?
Some thoughts came to me while I was driving and thinking about the words of Dietrich Bonhoeffer. I figured I'd write them down so I could remember them.
